Episode 77: Greatest Awakening Teachers in 2020: Sri Acharya, Shunyamurti, and Leo Gura of Actualized.org

And I forgot to mention Bob Thurman, but I always mention Bob Thurman, so…

  1. I’m so glad to hear that you recommend Sri Dharma Pravartaka Acharya. As you may remember, for a number of months now, I’ve been trying to become more familiar with his teachings.

I think–and don’t quote me on this–that Acharya’s PhD is in something related to religion. Maybe in world religions or something like that.

As for Leo Gura of Actualized.org, I’ve encountered that channel, and remember seeing something on spiral dynamics. That said, other than maybe spending a few minutes on one video (only out of curiosity), I’m not familiar with that channel.

    His work sounds fascinating, though.

I think Shanyamurti is entirely new to me.

It’s regrettable that I don’t have time–or rather, don’t take the time–to explore what these teachers have to offer. I’m sure I’m missing out on a lot.

Note: I just looked up Shanyamurti, but Yahoo suggested another spelling: Shunyamurti.

I think there’s one area of confusion that I’d like some clarity on, and that has to do with the mentioned golden ages.

You mentioned that we’re going into a golden age, and then refined what you said by later mentioning that it was a mini-golden age, and I think that’s more accurate. We’re (hopefully) entering into a mini-golden age.

I think our current place in time was also mentioned: toward the end of the Kaliyuga. But if my understanding is correct, I don’t think that’s the case. From what I think, the Kali Yuga lasts 432,000 years, and (I think) we’re only about 5,200 years into the Kali Yuga.

So, if that’s correct, we have about 426,000 years to go before we actually enter the Satya Yuga (which I think is the real Golden Age).

So the mini-golden age we’re going into is exactly that: a mini-age within a larger yuga.

Again, as you said, calendars can be all over the place, but that’s just my understanding.

This episode made me think and ponder some things. I’d like to share them all here, but time limits me.

Finally, I think I want to also acknowledge your appreciation of what authentic spiritual teachers are doing for us. We have to thank them for this. On a livecast, I once asked Acharya if he felt qualified to be a guru, and he said no, but that he is a guru out of a sense of duty, because (as you said) his guru asked him to.

I can understand that having to undergo all the tasks of being a spiritual teacher (especially if it’s not something you asked to do), can, at times, be thankless. I imagine it can be quite distressing to see so many people clouded by the fog of illusion.

To go to any land and try to establish a foundation of Truth (especially in an age of un-truth such as the Kali Yuga), is something to be commended.
